Christchurch

Christchurch New Zealand Christchurch is New Zealand’s second largest city, English settlers arrived in four ships in 1850 and laid the foundations for what is today one of New Zealand's most English looking cities. It has a distinctive quaint English character, city square and cathedral, as well as a historic tram running through the city.
 
The River Avon gently flows through the central city making for a relaxing feel to the place.

Within the centre of the city you will find a beautiful Cathedral, if you have the energy you can always climb the 134 stairs of the Cathedral's tower for an awe-inspiring view of the city. Or opposite the cathedral get a coffee and visit the shops and craft market at the Arts Centre, the imposing stone buildings that once housed the University.
 
Christchurch boasts over 740 parks and an extensive system of rivers, streams and wetlands, its nick name is the ‘Garden City'. Its wide tree-lined avenues, beautifully maintained gardens, ambling inner-city rivers and restored heritage buildings do make.

International tourism, especially foreign-student education for the Asian market, is a growing sector of the Christchurch economy. Because of this there is a high concentration of cyber-cafes here, particularly in the tourist-friendly areas around the Square.
 
Today Christchurch is a vibrant city, with a lively café scene and plenty of museums and culture venues to keep locals and tourist entertained. Canterbury has warm summers and cool to cold winters
